Wolverine Plating Corporation is accredited by ISO 17025 Laboratory Accreditation Program, to perform quality tests on all the parts which they plate. They are also accredited to perform these tests for other companies involved in metal fabrication and plating.
The quality tests performed by our ISO 17025 accredited laboratory are:
- Salt Spray Testing: this is the standardized test method used to check the corrosion resistance of coated samples. This test involves placing the part in a closed testing chamber and spraying a salt water solution on the part by means of an atomizing nozzle. the results are expressed in terms of how many hours of exposure the part requires to develop red rust.
- X-Ray Fluorescence Thickness Testing: once a part is zinc or zinc-nickel coated, it is often necessary to determine the actual thickness of the coating. X-ray fluorescence testing can also measure the alloy composition of the plating. In both cases, the part is tested using x-ray fluorescence testing procedures. This is a non-destructive test that is considered accurate and reliable.
- Adhesion Testing: For zinc and zinc-nickel coatings to perform satisfactorily, they must adhere to the substrates on which they are applied. Various adhesion tests are performed to test the strength of the bond between the zinc or zinc-nickel coating and the metal on which it is applied.
